Basic Trim & Roofing Panel Information

Trim & Roofing Reference Guide

Ridge Cap (Large)

A metal covering placed over the ridge of a roof.

Ridge Cap (Small)

A smaller metal covering placed over the ridge of a roof.

Transition (Large)

Trim that allows the joining of two different slopes.

Transition (Small)

A smaller trim that allows the joining of two different slopes.

Sidewall

Trim between a wall and the slope of a roof. This trim is necessary to ensure the area is watertight.

Chimney Flashing

Metal trim installed where the roof and chimney meet. This trim is used to ensure that the area between the chimney and roof is watertight.

Snowguard Trim

Snow guard trim is used on rooftops to help snow and ice melt completely and drift off your metal roof in small amounts, rather than all at once

Rake Trim

The inclined edge of roof over a wall from eave to the ridge. The trim for this area is called “rake trim.”

Valley

Trim that goes in the intersection of two slopes to help with water run-off. This trim helps to protect your roof from water damage.

J-Trim

Trim used to perfect the edges of a home or building, you will mostly see these around windows and doors.

Facia / Door Trim

A board extending down from the roof at the eave or the rake. The trim for this area is called “facia trim.”

Z-Trim / Ratguard

Z -trim allows a transition between two materials and breaks up contrast between colors such as wainscot. Rat-guard Trim goes along the base of the building to have the finished look and have the purpose to keep rodents out.

Drip Edge

Trim used along the eaves and rake to allow water to run-off.

Large Corner

Large Corner is used to cover a raw corner that is exposed on building which is where the corner trim is needed to cover.

Rake Facia

NEW! Rake facia Trim is our new trim piece which is a combination used preferably with our standing roof kits only to join as a rake trim and facia trim together on the GABLE side of the building.

Drip Facia

NEW! Drip facia Trim is our new trim piece which is a combination used preferably with our standing roof kits only to join as a drip trim and facia trim together on the EAVE side of the building.
